REQUIREMENTS & INFORMATION

Audition Information

DANCE MAGNET

The Dance Magnet will host an audition for the 2025-26 school year on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Dancers and their parents must first sign up online with the ELC for School Choice - HS Magnet Programs on the OCPS website.

Audition Criteria

  • The dancers can expect the following:

  • Ballet warm-up, modern center, jazz across the floor, and movement acquisition in contemporary/modern choreography.

Required Attire

  • Girls: Black leotard OR black fitted shirt. Pink tights (convertible tights are highly recommended) OR black leggings. 

  • Boys: Black fitted shirt with black fitted pants or shorts.

    • Please, no bike shorts or crop tops.

  • Footwear: Ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or barefoot.

  • Hair: If your hair is long enough, please have it in a bun. Hair should not be in the dancer’s face.

  • Jewelry: Small studs for the ears are fine. No dangling or excessive jewelry is allowed.

Audition Results

  • All audition results will be emailed to parents/guardians from the magnet office. Seat Offer emails will contain specific acceptance and registration information with a registration deadline.

GOLDEN COUGARS

The Golden Cougars will host an audition for the 2025-25 school year on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

The Golden Cougars is open to all students enrolled at University High School. You are not required to be a magnet student to audition.

Audition Criteria

  • The dancers can expect the following:

  • Jazz warm-up, tricks/skills center and across the floor, and movement acquisition in hip-hop/commercial choreography.

Required Attire

  • Girls: Form fitted top, leggings or shorts or joggers/sweats

  • Boys: Form fitted top, leggings or shorts or joggers/sweats.

  • Footwear: Sneakers or jazz shoes. 

  • Hair: Hair can be done but should be pulled away from the face.

  • Jewelry: Small studs for the ears are fine. No dangling or excessive jewelry is allowed.

Audition Results

All audition results will be emailed to students from Ms. Mele.
